Leveling & Stats

Ovels stores XP and level per member, then uses the Statistics settings to decide which activity can add XP, how much XP an eligible activity can award, which roles or channels are ignored, and what happens when a member reaches a configured level. Stats tracking is the top-level switch for XP/stat collection in the server.

6 commandsConfigured from the dashboard

What it covers

  • Message XP can be enabled with a minimum XP, maximum XP, and per-member message cooldown. Messages sent in ignored channels or by members holding an ignored role do not earn XP.
  • Voice XP can be enabled separately with a fixed XP-per-minute value for time spent in voice channels.
  • Role and channel multipliers change earned XP and stack multiplicatively. For example, a 2x role multiplier combined with a 1.5x channel multiplier produces 3x the base XP for an eligible event.
  • Level-up announcements are optional. Set a custom message and an announcement channel, or leave the channel unset so the announcement goes to the channel where the member leveled up.
  • Level-role rewards are cumulative: reaching a new configured level adds that role while keeping earlier level-role rewards. Ovels can only assign roles below its highest Discord role.
  • The Statistics page shows the top 15 members by stored level and XP and provides manual XP controls to set, add, remove, or reset a member's XP.
  • /rank shows a member's progress, while /leaderboard provides the server's leaderboard view.

How to configure it

  1. Open Manage Server -> Statistics and keep Stats tracking enabled. This is the top-level gate for XP and stat collection.
  2. Under Message XP, enable chat XP and choose the minimum, maximum, and cooldown values. Under Voice XP, enable it separately and set XP per minute.
  3. Use Ignored channels & roles to create exclusions. Add an XP multiplier for a role or channel when a group or area should earn more or less XP; multipliers are applied together rather than choosing only one.
  4. Under Level-up role rewards, choose a level and a role that sits below Ovels' highest role. Reusing the same level updates that level's role instead of creating a duplicate.
  5. Under Leveling, optionally enable announcements, customize the message, and select a channel. Use No channel to announce in the channel where the member leveled up.
  6. Use Manual XP adjustment for staff corrections. Set writes an exact XP value without recalculating the stored level; Add and Remove change XP while keeping it at or above zero; Reset clears XP and returns the stored level to 1.
TipStart with a conservative message range and cooldown, then add a few meaningful level-role milestones. Manual XP changes are stored XP overrides; setting or adding XP does not automatically recalculate the stored level.
